Eventually, the travelers reached for the US capital, Washington DC where they posed for the pictures in front of the White House and the United States Capitol. Before leaving the states the group of DIS travelers passed though Philadelphia and New Jersey. Besides regular sightseeing tours the students spent a couple of days for shopping and entertainment.
After a long flight over the Atlantic Ocean the students had a five-day visit to Istanbul, the cultural artery of Europe. In Istanbul they visited the Topkapi Palace, the Miniturk (the mini model of modern Turkey), Istanbul Aauarium Pier Loti Hill, Sultan Ahmet Square, the Beyazit Square, the Grand Bazaar and the couple of Turkish colleges. Engin Yigit, a science teacher at DIS Primary, who has lived for five years in Istanbul guided students through the city and provided a short tour to his host university (the University of Istanbul) and the Zaman Newspaper building where they were able to feel the pulse of Turkish media. Besides visiting Istanbul's famous places the students had a lot of fun in karting races, swimming pools and saunas and Turkish restaurants. The day before departure to Tajikistan they watched the match of the popular Turkish football team Besiktas.
After coming back home, the students were delighted and full of unforgettable impressions. "I will never forget the wonderful time we had in the USA and Turkey," said Abdukadir Durmush, a student of 5th grade at DIS Primary School.
