Secondary School Clubs
The Journalism Club at Dushanbe International Primary School functions every Saturday from 12 to 1:30 p.m. The students of grades 4 and 5 are admitted to the club. Parviz Jamalov, a journalism student of Russian-Tajik Slavonic University conducts the lessons. The Journalism club was launched in 2009 for developing creative writing skills in students. Journalism Club students learn about theory, history and functions of modern media. In addition to theoretical courses students develop their writing skills through regular writing and reporting exercises. Students learn the basics of news writing and reporting and carry the responsibility of contributing articles for the “Young Journalist”, the periodical publication of Primary School. Basically, after completing the theoretical and grammatical part the students get various assignments from their Journalism teacher (interviews, news stories, opinion stories, feature stories, photos, etc) and submit their prepared articles for the publication in the ‘Young Journalist’. The Journalism club teacher also allots some time for different types games and activities which are intended to enhance creative writing skills and broaden the horizons of students’ imagination.
Theater Club functions every Saturday from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Parviz Jamalov conducts the lessons on the art of acting, being based on his personal acting experience in Tajikistan and USA. The students of grades 3, 4 and 5 are admitted to the club. The Theater Club was launched in 2009 to provide the chance for gifted students to express themselves in a stage performance. In Theater club students study the origins and basics of modern theater, learn the genres of a play (drama, comedy, tragedy, melodrama, vaudeville, etc.), analyze play characters and study the stories. Theater production is a major and ultimate purpose of the club. After understanding the theoretical basics of theater students proceed to the rehearsals. The story selection process is based on a democratic principle: the teacher presents several stories from which students select the ones they want to play in. The plays are written by the teacher and are adopted according to given facilities. Ready theater plays are displayed to audience at school for special occasions (New Year, Navruz, etc). This year with the consent of school administration the Theater Club crew is planning to perform in different schools of Dushanbe.
The Piano Club functions every Monday and Thursday from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. Mavjuda Rustamova conducts lessons on Piano art and vocal preparation. The students of grades 2 through 5 can participate in the club. The Piano Club activities involve a brief history of music and direct piano practice. After gaining some skills of playing on a piano students perform at programs and concerts organized in school.
Violin Club functions every Monday and Thursday from 2:15 to 4:00 p.m. and is open for the students of 3through 5 grades. The classes are conducted by an experienced teacher Marina Vasilevna. The students can learn how to play on a violin and perform in front of an audience.
Drum Club functions every Wednesday from 2:30 to 4:30 and on Saturday from 9:30 to 12:00 p.m. and is taught by Javadzoda Vsevolod, a music professor with 30 years of professional experience. During his lessons professor Jevadzoda utilizes various musical tools including a regular drum, a xylophone and a national Tajik drum called ‘Tavlak’.
Dance Club functions every Tuesday and Friday from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. Teacher Gulshirmoh Ibragimova conducts the lessons on national dance techniques.
Girls Club functions every Monday and Thursday. The club is open for girls only. The lessons are conducted by teacher assistants. The participants of Girls Club practice cooking, handcrafting and other useful activities.
The teachers of Piano, Violin, Drum, Dance and Theater clubs collaborate preparing a program show for special occasions.
